Elder Thomas M. Headen is the Pastor of Obie's Chapel United Holy Church in Timberlake, NC. Adjoined to him in love and in ministry is his wife and Assistant Pastor Elder Vanessa Headen. Thomas Headen was born to Clifton and Leola Headen in Pittsboro, NC where he grew up and attended Alston Chapel United Holy Church under the leadership of Pastor David Strckland. In his young adult years he entered the doors of North Carolina A&T State University and would soon stray away from a life of righteousness. Before his senior year, through his brothers and sisters he was led to the Deliverance Tabernacle Fellowship Church Ministry under the leadership Pastor Inez W. Choatez and now Bishop, Georgia Ruth Riley. It was this holy ghost filled deliverance ministry that would change his life forever. It was also at Deliverance that he met his wife Vanessa Gattis, daughter of Reverends Melvin & Ruby Gattis, and sister of Pastor Kim Gattis, and niece of Bishop Riley. She had begun preaching at an early age and was a freshman at North Carolina Central University when her and Thomas started dating. They were married on July 8, 1978. To this union four children have been born Nicholas 28, Quentin 20, Elijah (who awaits us in glory) and Karyn 14. There was recently an addition to the family, the now Mrs. Twanya Headen the wife of the eldest son, Nicholas.

After 17 years, Thomas was called to Pastorship himself, and left Deliverance (The Hill as we call it) to pursue pastorship in the United Holiness Body where he began as a child. He has pastored Floyd's Temple UHC in Lumberton, NC, Margret's Chapel UHC in Staley, NC and for the last seven years he has been the Sheapard at Obies Chapel UHC in Timberlake, NC. Within these seven years his wife Vanessa followed and was named Assistant Pastor of the flock at Obie's. While under the Headens leadership, the church has seen subtantial growth and have witnessed establishment many ministries such as The Obie's Chapel Delights, The Face Of Praise Mime Team, and the reviving of the YPHA under its new president Minister Katrina Poole. Mr. & Mrs Thomas & Vanessa, in a few weeks will celebrate 30 wonderful years of marriage. Even more dynamic is the number of years they share together in ministry.

Pastor Headen has been in education all of his life. He amassed 134 credit hours at North Carolina A&T State University, A certificate of completion from MTA Truck Driving School, and also a Bachelors of Arts in Christian Theology from York Christian Academy. He has also been a member of many civic organizations such as the Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., The Orange County NC NAACP, The Orange County Ministerial Alliance, The Teamsters Union, and also the Orange County chamber of Commerce. Assistant Pastor Headen has played many roles as well such as Assistant Choir Director for the Voices of Deliverances, DTFC Rebel For Christ Club President/Asst. Pres, DTFC Asst. Youth Leader, DTFC Women's Dept. President, Obie's Chapel Women's Dept. President, Obie's Chapel Event Coordinator, and many many many more.
